Hindu devotees pray and prepare rice porridge in the streets surrounding the Attukal Bhagavathy Temple in Thiruvananthapuram on Wednesday as they take part in the Pongala Festival or Attukal Pongala in the southern state of Kerala. More than 3.5 million women took part in the festival which is attempting entry into the Guiness Book of World Records for the largest gathering of women at a festival in the world.
